You meet someone, you click, you wonder about them, overthink every interaction & pray they ask you out again.
Or
it can be a complete mind fuck.
You never know where you stand, you hate your date or you really like him but can't tell if he really likes you. He might make plans and never follow through, etc.
Competition is fierce and there's already enough pressure in society to be perfect. Have an amazing job, be independent, a size 2, have perfect hair/skin/nails, dress your finest, be interesting/funny, etc, etc, etc. The list goes on foreverrrrrrrrr.
When your next date is just a swipe away, what incentive is there to "settle" down?
For ladies, we are more willing to find a decent guy and give it a chance.
Men on the other hand are always testing their odds. How hot of a girl can I snag? How successful?
Girls are aggressive as F nowadays because getting a guy to commit is tough shit and like I said, competition is a very real thing.
Back in the day when guys had to approach a girl IRL, life was simpler... There were only SO many girls at the bar. Some might be married or in relationships leaving even less single options to choose from.
It required gusto to walk up to a stranger and strike up a convo. You didn't have an iphone to hide behind & a bio to describe every girl. You just took a risk and hoped for the best. If the interaction was decent, you'd date her.
Now?
A girl makes one wrong move and it's back to the tindersphere.
Online dating makes the world more accessible but it also really fucks up human interactions/how we pick a partner today.
Wishing we could ban all dating apps for three-ish months and see if guys could remember how to man up and talk to a chick IRL.
Day dreaming, clearly.
xo xo,
Elle
